The days after a sudden loss can be critical for your students, their families, and your staff.
If you have never experienced the sudden loss of a loved one, you can’t prepare yourself for how many practical details there are to manage. Making burial arrangements, hosting family and friends, as well as planning and coordinating funeral services are just a few of the tasks you’ll be expected to focus on in the days following your loss. Carson’s Village can provide a wide range of support services to help families navigate this difficult time.
Carson's Village Advocates stay with families for the first year after a loss to ensure they are grieving in a healthy way. Students, their families, and school staff have the support and resources they need to successfully navigate the complications that often arise during the grief journey. Our highly trained Advocates provide guidance and support every step of the way.

Village of Support for Student Families and School Staff
Families
Carson's Village provides student families the resources they need when they need it most to ensure that they are grieving in a healthy way. Partnering with Carson's Village can extend your school's support relationship with families for over two years after a loss through our Continuing Support program.
School Staff
Bereavement Village provides school staff assistance with bereaved families, mental health support, education, tools, and more. Additionally, bereaved employees benefit from Carson's Village regular services which reduces the incomprehensible stress of losing a loved one, return to work faster, prevents employees from going into unnecessary debt, and reduce long-term mental health issues.

What to Expect
Engaging the Staff
Crisis Team Resources
A Carson's Village Advocate works with both the school's crisis team and the family to provide support by serving as the frontline resource for the crisis team to connect families to immediately after a loss.
- By integrating Carson's Village into the bereavement protocol, more students and families are supported regardless of a Social Woker, Crisis Team Member, or other Administrative Staff referral.
- Carsons' Village provides an extension of services to students and their families for up to two years after a loss, thereby supporting the long term efforts of the Crisis Team.
School Frontline Staff
- By integrating Carson's Village into the school district's bereavement protocol, school staff have the tools to provide families with the support they need at the time they need it most.
- Carson's Village provides support for frontline school staff dealing with the complexities of loss to include coping strategies and building a village of support in the classroom.
Human Resources
Carson's Village will fully integrate into current programming to extend the reach of HR support for bereaved employees and their supervisors.
School Social Workers
Carson's Village works closely with School Social Workers to reach families quickly and provide additional support to the Social Workers themselves in supporting families and providing resources.

How It Works
By connecting with Carson’s Village, an Advocate will be assigned to every family. The Advocate supports the bereaved and serves as a connection between them and your organization during their time of loss.
Access Resources
We provide families with a library of information they can search and browse at their convenience to help through the loss of a loved one. Additionally, we provide school staff with the resources they need for communications during a loss.
Help Family Stress Less
With our logistical help we walk you through the phases to be considered when planning a funeral in hopes it allievates stress and anxiety.
Smoother Grief Process
We are here to provide emotional guidance and connect individuals and families to community partners to help with a smoother grief process.
